The College of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology offers undergraduate and postgraduate study in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Telecommunications and Information Technology. With the School of Engineering, we offer undergraduate study in Mechatronics.
Our programs are underpinned by probably the most exciting research around australia. Within the Australian Research Council 2012 research excellence rankings we received a high rating of 5 (well above world standard) for Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Within their final year our students bring theory and exercise together in sophisticated design projects. For instance, Luke Simmons developed a control system driven prosthetic hands that reacts to the electrical impulses in muscle tissues.
Darwin-OPThere's nothing beats just a little competition to create things interesting. The NUbots, our robot team, use their artificial intelligence and robotics expertise to program Darwin-OP robots to compete in RoboCup. In 2014 they travelled to South america to get familiar with the championship.
Makerspace is really a student hackerspace community and open lab workspace that provides leading edge equipment just like a PCB mill and three dimensional printer to aid students working and working together on their own uni work and private projects.
